Voice Lessons
Teaching Philosophy
As a voice teacher, my primary objective is to promote and achieve exponential growth in my students’ vocal production through the efficient execution and coordination of airflow and resonance. Together we will establish and maintain a healthy vocal technique, gain a better understanding of how your voice functions, apply healthy vocal technique to new and old vocal repertoire, foster musicality and expressivity in both the music and text, and gain confidence in your authentic vocal technique and abilities.
In order for you to be a successful student in my studio you must be willing to experiment, pursue discoveries, and maintain an open line of communication. It is important for the two of us to develop a musical and academic vocabulary that ensures growth and confidence. Should you find a concept confusing or uncomfortable then please bring it to my attention and ask for clarification. It is my job to find the most optimal way to convey ideas and instruction in the voice studio. Everyone learns differently and everyone's voice is unique, so it is essential that all parties involved keep an open mind. Ample preparation, consistent practice, and mindfulness will ensure a successful and productive lesson, which in turn will result in successful performances.
“The voice you have is the voice you’ve earned by the way that you move.”
– Andrew Byrne
